Secret Sauce: How to Achieve Your Goals by 2025: A Practical Secret Recipe
2025 is here... What about you? What are your goals? Or are you just thinking of "getting good at something" but don't have a clear plan? Many people set goals every year, but end up forgetting them like the fitness membership they signed up for at the beginning of the year (but never used).
So why do some people succeed? Are they more disciplined than others? Or is it just luck?
The truth is... achieving your goals isn't just about hard work, it's about "systems" and "mindset". Today, I'm going to show you how to set goals that are actually usable, not just set and forget, but goals that you will definitely reach in 2025. 🚀
1. Start with “WHY” – Why do you want this?
Have you ever set a goal but after a while you lose motivation? That's because you don't really know "why" you want to do it. Simon Sinek once said, "Start with Why" because if we don't know why we are doing it, it's easy to give up.
Try asking yourself:…
Is this goal really important to you?
If you succeed, how will your life improve?
If you don't do this, will your life get worse?
The clearer your answer is, the less likely you are to give up halfway.
2. Use SMART Goals – Turn your dreams into tangible plans.
Many people set broad goals, such as “I want to be rich this year” or “I want to be healthy this year.” The problem is that they aren’t specific enough.
Good goals should be SMART, such as:
🎯 S (Specific) – Specify clearly
❌ "I want to be healthy."
✅ "I want to lose 5 kilograms in 3 months."
🎯 M (Measurable) – Measurable
❌ "I want to read more books."
✅ "I will read 20 pages a day and finish 12 books this year."
🎯 A (Achievable) – possible
❌ "Become a billionaire in 1 month"
✅ "How to increase your income by 20,000 baht per month from doing online business"
🎯 R (Relevant) – In line with our lives
❌ "I want to train to be a world-class chef even though I don't enjoy cooking."
✅ "I will practice making simple, healthy meals to take care of myself and my family."
🎯 T (Time-bound) – Schedule
❌ "Will start exercising soon."
✅ "I will start exercising 3 days a week from today onwards."
Ask yourself: Are your goals SMART? If not, try adjusting them!
3. Create a "system", not just an "intention".
Determination doesn't make you successful... A good system will.
If you want to run every morning, but you wake up late and feel lazy, you may need to create a “system” that makes it easier, such as:
Put your running shoes next to your bed.
Set your alarm farther away to force you to get out of bed.
Invite a friend to run with you to increase responsibility.
💡 example:
📖 Want to read more? → Set a time limit of 30 minutes a day to read instead of playing with your phone before bed.
💪 Want to exercise regularly? → Pay for a yoga class in advance or buy equipment to make working out more fun.
💰 Want to save more money? → Set up an automatic savings account that deducts money as soon as your salary arrives.
Ask yourself: Does your goal have a “back-up system”?
4. Use the 1-Minute Rule – Start Small
Many people fail because they think “I have to do a lot”, which makes them feel burdened and don’t want to start.
You can try using James Clear's "2-Minute Rule" from his book Atomic Habits.
Want to read a book? → Just read the first 2 minutes.
Want to exercise? → Just put on your shoes and walk out of the house first.
Want to write an article? → Open your computer and type the first sentence.
Once you start, the chances of you continuing are much higher.
5. Monitor results and continually improve plans
Goals are not something you set and forget about. You have to “follow up” periodically.
📌 Use a journal or app to help record your progress.
📌 Reward yourself when you reach small goals.
📌 If it doesn't work, change the plan, not the goal!
For example, if you aim to exercise 5 days a week but feel like it's too much, try reducing it to 3 days and then increasing as you can.
6. Find partners who can help you grow
🚀 Why do some people succeed faster? Because they have people around them who push them.
📍 Try to find people who have similar goals and support each other.
📍 Find a mentor or advisor who can offer advice.
📍 Announce your goals to give yourself "social pressure" to achieve them.
Conclusion: 2025 should be your best year yet!
